Phillip “Stitch” Vaughn is a Distinguished Graduate and a full ride scholarship recipient from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Arizona ’04 where he obtained a degree in Global Intelligence and Security Studies. After graduation, he was selected for Euro-Nato Joint Jet Pilot Training at Sheppard AFB. In 2008, Phillip transitioned to Air Force Special Operations Command. He was a pilot in the U-28A tactical ISR aircraft and has received 7 Air Medals for over 700 combat hours supporting operations ground forces in Afghanistan and the Philippines.
Phillip was selected as the Air Force Language Capable Airman of the year in 2016. He speaks four languages which he has leveraged in numerous training, counter-terrorism, and counternarcotics missions worldwide.
Currently, Phillip is a Systems Engineer for a Fortune 500 company and continues to serve as a reserve pilot in the Air Force. Aside from his military and professional accomplishments, Phillip is an active volunteer in his community. He was introduced to charitable service at 8 years old by his parents when they started a non-profit orphanage in Quito, Equador. The orphanage played a big part in his upbringing and Phillip continues to advise their board of directors. Phillip is most proud of his ability to learn from his mistakes and become more resilient through the difficult seasons of life. Own up to your mistakes, change, debrief, and improve!
