Former F/A-18 Fighter Pilot
Ryan “BILBO” Hazlett is a former F/A-18 Hornet pilot and a retired Marine Corps officer. In the Hornet cockpit, BILBO flew 78 combat missions in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM, earning four Air Medals for strike flights. He also received the Top Hook award during his carrier landing qualifications aboard the USS Enterprise.
After his operational deployments, BILBO attended the School of Advanced Warfighting, the Marine Corps’ premiere school for military planners, where competitively selected officers hone their skills in problem-solving, decision-making, planning, cross-functional team leadership, and executive decision support. After graduation, BILBO served as a Strategic Planner at Headquarters Marine Corps in the Pentagon, leading a cross-functional team responsible for developing the Marine Corps’ $150B five-year strategic plan.
After retiring from the Marine Corps in 2014, BILBO transitioned to business strategy consulting with The Boston Consulting Group. While at BCG, BILBO designed and developed strategic business plans and implementation programs for clients in technology, media & telecommunications, travel & tourism, industrial goods, and consumer retail industries.
BILBO holds three masters degrees from various institutions, including the Harvard Kennedy School. BILBO is also a graduate of the Naval School of Aviation Safety, where Aviation Safety Officers develop an enhanced understanding of the major underlying human factors issues associated with aviation mishaps.
BILBO joined Afterburner as an Executive Consultant in 2018.
